Back within the day floral bridesmiad gowns had a lot fabric, you appeared as if you had been eaten alive by curtains
After revisiting my parents’ wedding album recently, and my mama’s crazy floral bridesmaid dresses (she even rocked them in orange and brown!), it got me considering wedding trends in the past which are still popular in our, and just how different or similar they appear today. Here are 5 of my faves, then and now…
1. Pastel Palette Bridal Party
Hats happen to be replaced by floral crowns, and gloves with basket flowers made method for larger loose floral bouquets, however when it comes to pastel palettes of the past and offer nothing much is different (and when you imagine the dresses above without sleeves they're pretty damn like the ones below!). See these pastel bridesmaids dresses for the same style (they're convertible, so can be created into a number of styles to match different figures).
2. Floral Prints
Back within the day floral bridesmiad gowns had a lot fabric, you appeared as if you had been eaten alive by curtains. Now, a much better balance of material and skin means a floral print continues to be super popular, and I reckon it appears even better having a mix of fabrics inside a similar print size or colour.
3. Pink Taffeta
I wore my first pink taffeta dress to my Aunties wedding. It had puffy sleeves along with a tapered skirt and I wore just as much hairspray during my mullet as humanly possible. At the time I thought it rocked (and secretly I still do) haha. Today, pink taffeta still makes an appearance, and even though movie ‘Bridesmaids’ clearly managed to get frightening, there are several gorgeous looks available (like below) which are a little more classy. Again, combine styles and colours for any less ‘bridesmaidy’ look.
4. Tulle Layering
5 Bridesmaid Wedding Trends, THEN & NOW!
While Tulle happens to be a major player within the bridesmaid world, layering tulle in soft colours makes a big return! The tulle halterneck dresses above totally rock my world, and with no extra layering round the neck, the dresses in the past and offer are almost identical (take a look at that sweetheart neckline!). Consider a tulle skirt to attain a similar look
5. Lace Love
5 Bridesmaid Wedding Trends, THEN & NOW!
Lace sage green bridesmaid dresses have never really gone from fashion, they've simply changed in fashion over the years as lace became affordable and much more designs became on ‘the high street’. Lace continues to be one of the most popular choices, with a few bridesmaids even rocking white!
