An Intimate Destination Wedding

Chartered Surveyors Lizzie and Simon celebrated their marriage on 8 September 2018 in the historic, Gascony, France. They first met in a London bar, bumping into each other after Lizzie had initially refused to become set up with Simon. Simon proposed on the secluded beach in Brittany, in June 2017, reading a poem he'd written himself, before getting down on one knee to inquire about the all-important question.

For her wedding gown, Lizzie designed a beautiful choice, using its classic ballgown silhouette (filled with pockets!), combined with a wonderful lace jacket.

"It was the very first prom dresses I tried on. It stood out because it was champagne instead of ivory so as soon as I used it, I just knew it had been the one for me. I loved the tranquility of and elegance from it, and also the fact it had pockets!"

Lizzie and Simon's lovely flower girl would be a picture inside a blush pink lace dress, which she wore having a faux-flower headband along with a sparkly handbag.

Capturing all the beautiful moments from the wonderful castle backdrop was a photographer.

"Words cannot describe how amazing Rebecca was. She captured us, and also the venue perfectly. Throughout the day Rebecca was there directing us, and ensuring everything was captured."

"The moment we turned up in the chateau, we knew it had been the place for all of us. We both love dogs, and also the moment we pulled up, FiFi the resident black Labrador appeared and continued to follow along with us around whilst we'd a tour. We both wanted to obtain married abroad and wanted a little, intimate, but relaxed wedding."

The bridesmaids wore fantastic, contrasting outfits – a delicate pale pink chiffon maxi dress, along with a blue Guipure lace jumpsuit, each with footwear from Lizzie also gifted them bracelets engraved using their initials.

"I loved the ceremony, particularly right at the end, after our vows, when Jon was playing the song he'd written for all of us, and that we were able to browse around at all the people we like, inside a beautiful place, a couple."

Following the ceremony, there have been tasty homemade canapés – smoked salmon and cream cheese blinis, honey mustard sausages, and tomato, mozzarella, and salami skewers. In keeping using the relaxed, intimate feel during the day, instead of the formal meal, the canapés were then a hog roast.

"The beauty and setting from the chateau resulted in we didn't have to do much when it comes to styling the venue, because it was the centerpiece from the whole day! However, our lovely florist did add foliage towards the fountain within the courtyard, and my mum painstakingly made bunting brighten outside."

"We then added simple flowers in homemade vases (jam jars accessorized with brown string and lace), plus fairy lights and lanterns to help keep the look quite simple."

Speeches were enjoyed because the sun set behind a stylish old glasshouse decorated with cheerful bunting, so that as night fell, Lizzie and Simon cut their cake encompassed by loved ones, before having the first dance together, to James TW's song, Please Keep Loving Me.

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"Decide that which you both want and stay with it. There will always be individuals that want to obtain involved / make decisions, but fundamentally here's your day, also it should reflect who you are as a couple."

"Cherish every second. The day goes way too quickly, so take time to appreciate it, and also have a moment together, to look at that which you have made happen!"
