A Cool and Quirky London Wedding

Meet fashion buyer Sam and partner account manager Lewis, who celebrated their marriage around 5 May 2018, by having an intimate, candle-filled ceremony within the atmospheric, London, then a fun-filled reception at Brick Lane. The couple knew they wanted a London wedding, to help keep things stress-free but also memorable and unique.

"I'm not a traditional person and dealing in a fashion meant I had the vision to produce something unique and true to us. I'm a follower of everything mono – from my clothes to the house interior, therefore we knew the color palette from the beginning. Even the mother of the bride is in black and white. Our aim ended up being to have good friends and family around us, have a marriage that was true to us as people and absolutely nothing lavish."

Sam find the exquisitely clean lines from the sequin 'Brooklyn' gown, which she purchased from the boutique I love the feeling of movement captured within the fringing around the dress, too – just lovely.

"I find the dress as I wanted something cool and different. It took me annually to find this dress as everything I was trying on ended up being too traditional for me personally. The fact that it had been all sequins only agreed to be up my street. I had long tassels put into the back, which just managed to get even more cool and unique and I loved this about this."

The bridesmaid dresses wore chic black dresses with a variety of High Street favorites along with strappy black sandals from Topshop. Continuing the cool monochromatic theme, the flower girls wore floral lace dresses with funky white Converse hi-tops.

Lewis chose black trousers, which they paired having a soft velvet jacket so that as a lovely nod towards the sequins on Sam's gown, a black sequin tie from Lewis' Best Men was his dad and 2 best friends from childhood, who all wore suits from Topman.

"A mutual friend invited us to some barbecue 8 years back in April for that Grand National and our eyes met across a burger – the remainder is history! After 6 many years of dating, Lewis finally found the courage and proposed on our first night in our first home together. It only agreed to be the way we both imagined, intimate and relaxed."

Sam was accompanied on the aisle by her father and found the song Paradise by Jeremih, which holds incredibly special meaning on her and Lewis, and much more so in light of some joyous news, they distributed to their guests following a ceremony.

"I love the song, and that we had a friend edit the song if you take the verses out because it wasn't appropriate and used the start and chorus… The words were so fitting to the journey and life…We knew it had been going to get better, as I was 3 months pregnant on our big day after 2.5 many years of trying."

The beautiful chapel space glowed with candles as Sam and Lewis exchanged vows – they chose to help keep these easy and opted for a fast ceremony. As newlyweds, they danced back on the aisle together to the song Call Me Al, by Paul Simon.

"Cool and quirky for that ceremony – which was just us. We fell deeply in love with the place instantly. Then, for that reception, we just desired to have something very relaxed, informal, and where everyone could simply have fun. The idea of bowling and karaoke meant we didn't need to rely on keeping our guests entertained – they mingled and entertained themselves!"

Outside the chapel within the sunshine, guests enjoyed prosecco and delicious Neapolitan-style pizzas from This post-ceremony feasting would be a favorite part of the day for that couple.

"Our favorite part was eating pizza and drinking prosecco within the gardens from the chapel with all of our family and friends. Along with announcing I was pregnant within our speeches!"

Sam and Lewis asked their guests to choose a favorite song to increase their evening playlist, and also the couple danced to Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell singing the gorgeous You're All I Need To Get By for her first dance.

"We chose this once we've been trying to conceive for that past 2.5 years. Lewis once assured me as we didn't have children, I was all he needed, and I felt this song just summed us both on how we felt for every other."

"We wouldn't do anything differently – it had been a perfect day."

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"I would say – invite whom you want… I didn't wish to spend my big day making small talk having a family member I hadn't observed in years. I wanted everyone there to understand our story, and who loved us and that we loved them."
