Nature Meets Glam In This Burgh Island Art Deco Wedding Inspiration

Are a 1920s loving bride? This Art Deco wedding inspiration in the shores of Devon is tailor-made for you…

UK photographer Jennifer Jane and her talented team of vendors come up with this stunning, 1920s-inspired wedding editorial in the Burgh Island Hotel. Celebrating a century since the Jazz Era, the goal was to modernize art deco wedding design – incorporating new bridal fashion & wedding trends that complement the era instead of relying on vintage pieces.

The outcome is a stunning scene that marries an environment of lavish glamour and breathtaking scenery. A lover of wild outdoors, Jennifer Jane isn't any stranger to incorporating nature into luxurious wedding style. Using art work photography techniques, her soft & ethereal wedding photos always appear to effortlessly weave together nature & the outside with luxury & details.

While Emma Caesar Weddings‘ styling within the Burgh Island Hotel might have been put properly together every Jazz Era party would, the frames captured around the shore are as breezy & wild as possible. This sunset shoot gives our Art Deco bride the opportunity to wear an ideal, fluffy bridal jacket.

From Jennifer Jane Photography

Our inspiration ended up being to celebrate a century of Art Deco, remaining sympathetic towards the movement however with a modern edge for that 2020s.

For the place, I chose Burgh Island Hotel, an amazing art deco hotel. Built throughout the 1920s and sympathetically restored to its former art deco glamour. It stands proud by itself tidal island, encompassed by the glittering sea and golden sandy beaches. It is the hotel where guests can't ever be overdressed and you will relax in your private haven. It is simply an ideal venue for that shoot.

It was vital that you us as suppliers to make use of modern elements which had a ‘feel’ for that 1920s era. We desired to avoid using vintage clothing and accessories. We wanted the shoot to possess a real feel from the Art Deco era, but in the same time feel fresh and contemporary. For this reason, we chosen a softer colour pattern of mint, white and gold instead from the more familiar black and gold. We wanted couples to obtain the shoot and seem like they could take elements from the shoot and build in it for their own day.

The Fashion

There was just one bridal boutique if this came towards the Shoot. Carina Baverstock Couture stock probably the most exquisite wedding dresses, and supplied probably the most incredible dress which was both contemporary, but oozed the sophistication, luxury, and glamour from the art deco movement.

For the make-up and hair, we didn’t desire to be a historical recreation, therefore we kept the make-up natural, but chosen a bit more drama for that eyes. The hair we combined the finger-wave style from the era along with a sophisticated updo. And used a bespoke hairpiece created especially for that shoot that used vintage pieces.

The Florals & Decor

Brompton Buds created an incredible table display and bouquet, while using soft colour pattern and incorporating Lillies and pampas grass instead from the more familiar feathers. Keeping that soft and romantic feel. The table display included an enormous tall showstopper centrepiece.

The cake by Claire’s Sweet Temptations was kept easy and used the soft mint colour, combining having a gold leaf geometric design to help keep the vintage elements but bring them in to the modern.

Stationery by Retro Press would be a beautiful soft mint and gold colour having a geometric design to enhance the theme. It was utilized in conjunction with geometric coasters with guest names.
